WESTMINSTER KINGSWAY COLLEGE, VINCENT SQUARE, LONDON SW1
Wednesday 8 May 2019 at 12:00 noon for 12:30
In the early 1900s, a group of respected philanthropists, hoteliers and restaurateurs including Auguste Escoffier, Cesar Ritz, Isadore Salmon and Baroness Burdett-Coutts were behind the founding of a school that is today known as Westminster Kingsway College. Their vision was to inspire both students and staff in culinary arts and science, and soon after the school opened, it was decided that a training restaurant was vital to enable students to practise cooking and serving meals to the public
A fine dining restaurant, The Escoffier Room, named after Auguste Escoffier, was added in 1953. Today its output continues to follow Escoffier’s passion for culinary excellence. Meals are prepared and served by second and third year professional chef students and I can personally attest from a number of visits to the very high standards they achieve.
Westminster Kingsway College’s alumni include outstanding chefs who have raised the bar and inspired others to follow a career in the hospitality industry. The roll call is an extensive one, and includes many celebrated chefs and entrepreneurs who learned their craft at the college such as Jamie Oliver, Ainsley Harriott, Antony Worrall Thompson, Henry Herbert, Dennis Mwakulua, Sophie Wright and Ben Murphy.
President Brian has arranged for us to have exclusive use of the Escoffier Room on Wednesday 8 May when we shall enjoy a seven-course tasting menu with an Italian theme.
The cost, to include a glass of Prosecco on arrival and house wine with the meal, is £56 per head. Please let me know when booking if you or any of your guests would prefer a vegetarian menu or have any allergies.
Numbers are limited and prompt booking is recommended. You may book online or download a form to print and scan or post back.
