Please put the following dates in your diaries for The United Wards Club’s 150th Anniversary season 2027-28. Much is being planned, but these are the key events for the year:
Tuesday 16 March 2027 – AGM and Installation Dinner (Apothecaries’ Hall).
Friday 11 to Monday 14 June 2027 – Long weekend holiday on the Isle of Wight (full details to follow very soon). An exciting mixed programme of activities to include private tours of Osborne House and Farringford (Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s magnificent home).
Saturday 12 June 2027 – Dinner in the Durbar Room at Osborne House, Isle of Wight: a magnificent commemoration of 1877, the year that saw both the founding of the United Wards Club and Queen Victoria being publicly proclaimed Empress of India at the first of the great Delhi Durbars.
Sunday 31 October 2027 – The United Wards Club’s 150th Anniversary – lunch at Counter at the King’s Wardrobe followed by Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral, all within a stone’s throw from where UWC first met in Carter Lane, Blackfriars.
Monday 1 November 2027 – 150th Anniversary Banquet (Goldsmiths’ Hall).
Friday 10 December 2027 – Christmas Lunch (Innholders’ Hall) following the Carol Service (St Lawrence Jewry).
Further information about all of the above to follow in due course, along with details of smaller events. It will be wonderful to see as many members and friends as possible joining in the 150th Anniversary celebrations, detailed planning of which is about to start in earnest now that these key events have all been confirmed. There have been plenty more very exciting ideas for the year, which we are about to start looking into in addition.
